Campfire Cooking!

Here is a preveiw of what my boss is putting together as a kit to sell online . It will all dissasimble and fit in a 12" x 36" box to be shipped anywhere in the USA. The Dutch oven is opptional . They almost finished the wedsite for these, and he asked me if I would be interested in making a small video for the website showing how is can be put together in a couple minutes. I might have to think about that for a bit.

Clyde

Here is my honey and the good neighbour working on my chicken coop this weekend. I'm so glad I have a handyman, if it was up to me I think the chickens themselves would laugh! We had to install the window there beside the neighbor  because it was very dark in there after we put up the sheeting. I don't know what it was to start with but the whole place had 1" wide gaps between the boards. We cut the shed in half because it was rather long , and we didn't want to take his brothers whole shed.
Three sides are boarded up and we left the door and the side with the window open for some fresh air. Ran out of steam and daylight yesterday (was so cold I could hardly hold a hammer) so more pictures on the way as it comes along, hopefully this week!

That is Clyde enjoying his new home with his one hen. He had been in a dark garage for a week or two perching on an old air conditioner. Bless his little chicken heart :/   He was as happy as can be when we put him in his new home.

You?

I found this the other day and thought it summed up to a "T" what we all
feel like one time or another!!
Maybe it's a good thing computers are inanimate objects and can't see our looks of revenge!

More Birds!

I might be getting a couple of chickens this weekend, I'm so excited!  The boss and his wife already have a flock of chickens and someone at work gave them a kids 4-H project gone bad. The package happened to contain 2 full grown rooster. That didn't go over well at ALL with their rooster, to say the least!  So they have been fighting it out for a week now. The other  night he let them all out, thought maybe they would run off , but all they did was run right to the road.  Dustin come home that way from work and called me to say that there were roosters in the road and himself and cars behind him were dodging poultry! I guess they made it that night because there wasn't a grease spot on the road the next morning when I drove by.  So I come to work later that day and hear of the chicken escapades for that morning. Pam (his wife) said they got a call from the high school that there were 3 chickens terrorizing kids in the yard!  The school is every bit of 1/2 a mile from the chicken house!!! So Jason (the boss) took 3 guys from work to help him wrangle chickens at the local high school-I bet that was a hoot to watch!!  He said they had quite a crowd out front watching too!
So, I told him to keep them from being run over, or killing one another, that I would take one of them off his hands for him, he offered to give me a hen to go along with it too, so I said OK.
So, we will see how this goes. To be continued....

Pretty Bird!

On a note closer to home, here is what  I see out the window all day long. One of the favorite pass times of my cats is to sit in the window, if it's cold outside, or sit directly under the bird feeders
if it nice outside. All my feeders are hanging from a wire stretched between two trees, so the cats can't get to them and the birds and squirrels know it too. It is funny to watch the squirrels taunt them on the tree the cats are sitting under. They will run down far enough to get chased, and then run back up and keep doing that. The cat's get so excited/aggravated that they just sit there and holler at them after awhile.
So far this year, there are big squawking sea gulls all over the lake !  It has not even been cold enough to freeze the lake over this year, so maybe that is why they have taken up residence. Fishing must still be good!

Coming Around the mountain!

Here we are on the way back down the mountain. Now picture us careening around the curves, our little rental car up on two wheels, with out laps full of camera equipment. I think my face was even pressed up against  my window a few times with the New York style taxi driving that was going on!  What goes on with the rental car-stays with the rental car! :))) Glad they can't talk.
It was fun, and I would do it again!
You should try it sometime :)
Here, Sharon and I were on top of the Gorge looking into it. We went up some very twisty, curvy, winding little roads to get there. It would have been funny to see us that morning because it took us awhile to get to the top and we were racing the sun! We had to make it up there before the sun burned off all the fog (you can see how little is left) so by the time we made it to the top, and got our stuff we were literally running up the path to the lookout point to get the shot of the day! I'm sure anyone that would have seen us would have thought we were completely crazy camera people!
I think it was worth it  though :)

Red River Gorge

How is this for a bright spot?  Her and I were in the mountains of eastern Kentucky, at the Red River Gorge. It is well worth seeing if you ever have the chance!  We hiked and took pictures for 2 days with the photography club, ate a good authentic southern breakfast at the Lodge that we stayed in-right up our alley! The Lodge is built on an al-most sheer rock face, and deep woods all around, so when we ate breakfast we could sit and watch the birds and squirrels through the wide bank of windows on the one side of the dinning room. There i saw the largest congregation of flying squirrels that I ever saw in my life-which is strange because they are very shy and you don't usually get to see them.  So I was happy to see them, but they wouldn't be still long enough for me to take there picture! Now you see them, now you don't that is how fast they are.
So put this on your list of things to go see!
